Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for Talking Cucumber.
Which Versions of OS X are Supported…?
The product page for each item of software will show the minimum version of OS X required. We do not support our software on versions of OS X prior to those shown. We also do not support beta or Gold Master (GM) versions of Apple’s OS X. For those you will have to use at your own risk…!
Licensing
I did not get a license. Where is it…?
Licenses for our products are sent by e-mail. Occasionally e-mails from our website may be blocked either by your ISP or by your e-mail provider. We have no control over this. It is the responsibility of the licensee to check they have their license. If your license has not arrived please send us an email via our contact form. You can also send an e-mail to support@talkingcucumber.com.
We will do our best to try and ensure that licenses are delivered. However it is up to the licensee to make sure they can receive e-mails at the address supplied.
How do licenses work…?
Licensing is per person rather than computer. Eg, if you have a Macbook and an iMac you can use the same license for both computers. If we find that people are sharing licenses we will retain our right to revoke that license. But who would do that…?
I have lost my license. How can I find it again…?
Don’t worry or dispair. Just go to the licenses section of this website. Enter your email address and your license will be sent to you.
Refunds
I have bought an App on the Mac App Store and would like a refund.
We do not deal with refunds on the Mac App Store. We do not have access to any customer details when software is bought from the Mac App Store. You will need to contact Apple to arrange a refund.
I would like a refund because…
We only refund software purchases when it is non-functional on the supported operating system. We will also not refund any software which has an activated license.
VAT
Why am I being charged VAT…?
From 1 January 2015 EU VAT is rated based on where the consumer lives instead of where the business is located. Previously VAT was charged based on the location of the company and if that company was over the threshold for that country. We are a small company located in London and are not above the threshold. This means we do not charge VAT for UK sales but we have to charge for EU sales.
You can read more about this at:
We would rather not have to collect VAT on EU sales. But these are the rules and we have to comply with them if we want to write great software. If you disagree with this, please write to your European Parliament MEP.
Why am I not being charged for VAT…?
This is due to one of three reasons:
- You are in the UK. We fall under the VAT threshold for the UK so we don’t have to charge VAT on UK sales.
- You are outside the EU. VAT is not charged on consumers outside of the EU.
- You can supply us with a valid VAT number for your country. Please enter this when purchasing a license.
